Glassco Squibb & Pear Separating Funnels with PP Stopper as per DIN ISO 4800 Standards
Separating
funnels, as the name suggests, are an important piece of lab equipment that is
used in liquid extractions. These instruments basically separate the solution
that is put into it, into two immiscible solvent regions. There is a stopcock
at the base, that allows to regulate the outward flow of the liquid. These are
made from high quality borosilicate glass while the stop cocks are made from
PTFE. The original liquid is fed
into the funnel through the top with the stopcock closed at the bottom. Then
you shake the funnel, and two separate emulsions are formed at different
levels. These can be removed using the stopcock valve.
